If the symptoms are no Sample RAM shown, even without loading any sample, the RAM module is damaged. This should be rare, but might happen, due to the nature of RAM manufacturing processes. While checking for Available Memory be sure that the PCM Autoload feature (in Media > Preferences) is not activated. If this is the case, please contact the nearest Korg Authorized Service Center, and ask them for a check-up, and eventual replacement of the Sample RAM module (part code: GRA0002101). Please get in touch with them in advance, to be sure they have the replacement part readily available, and can do the service work in the shortest time. While you wait for the replacement part, you can safely continue to work with your Pa800, excluding any Sampling write operation. The problem to the Sample RAM module does not affect any other area of the Pa800. Some users reported that with OS versions previous to 1.5, they could write samples with no problems at all, and the problem surfaced only after updating to the new version. This is due to a new function, introduced with OS version 1.5, that tests integrity of RAM memory. In case it finds some failure, it prevents all Sampling write operations, resulting in no available Sample RAM. Older OS versions allowed for Sampling write operations even in case of RAM misfunction, but this could eventually result in malfunctioning. |
